Classroom and Curriculum Grants
The purpose of the Sammamish High School PTSA Grant Program is to support classroom teaching and Sammamish High School. Grants are given for the purchase of materials and supplies that support learning any any class during the regular school day.
Updates and News
The SHS PTSA Grants Committee funded 8 Grant requests so far for the 2022-2023 grant cycle, totalling $7,000 in grant funds. Grants include a new Glass blowing ringsaw tool, a Science Telescope, entrance to the HOSA Conference in 2023, , new games for the French department, new graphing calculators for the Library and Math Department, art supplies for painting and ceramics classes, and new musical instruments.
We encourage Sammamish teachers to apply for grants for the 2023-24 school year. Thank you to SHS parents for joining the PTSA, as well as your gifts to the PTSA, which funded these enhanced student experiences.
Grant Guidlines
Grant Committee
The Grant Committee is comprised of the Grant Chair and PTSA Board of Directors
Process and Criteria
Each request is reviewed and voted on by the grant committee members using the following criteria:
Number of students benefiting from the grant.
Duration of time students are served.
Demonstrated need for the project/materials.
Availability of other funding sources.
Approval from department head and principal.
Note: SHS PTSA focuses on academics, classroom support, and social-emotional enhancements. Boosters focuses on extra-curricular enrichment and clubs. For curriculum materials that will serve class experiences and extra-curricular groups, teachers are encouraged to submit applications to both PTSA and Boosters. Also, consider department and building funds and the Bellevue Schools Foundation. SHS PTSA will not fund transportation, salaries, or previous expenditures. Preference may be given to those people or departments that have not received grants recently
Funding
Grants are limited to $10,000 total for the 2023-24 school year.
Past grant approval does not guarantee repeated approval.
Requests can be fully, partially funded, or denied.
Requests cannot be for funds already spent. Once a grant has been approved, the grant monies must be used within 90-days from the grant award date.
The grant committee chair will coordinate with the PTSA Treasurer(s) to grant the money to the school. All reusable materials will remain with the school.
The requestor will be notified via email the status of the grant and the approval amount.
One-time only expenditure, rather than repeat or annual funding needs, only.
